Luminis’ Scena Included in IES Progress Report 2021

 October 7, 2021

Luminis®, an established innovator and manufacturer of specification grade, interior and exterior lighting solutions for commercial, institutional, retail, recreational, and urban environments, is pleased to announce that its Scena exterior luminaires have been selected for inclusion in the 2021 IES Progress Report, an annual publication recognizing significant contributions to the global lighting industry.

Published by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), a collegial community dedicated to improving the lighting environment, the IES Progress Committee’s mission is to track significant new advancements in the art and science of lighting throughout the world and prepare a yearly report of achievements for the Society.

Scena is a family of elegant surface mount fixtures and bollards designed to withstand the rigors of urban exteriors and public spaces. Specifiers can mix and match a variety of models to satisfy their requirements. Round or square, designers can select a bollard best suited to its surroundings, then carry the aesthetic with complementary surface mount fixtures to nearby buildings. The luminaires are ideally suited for commercial applications, schools, office buildings, or outdoor public spaces.

Two versions of Scena luminaires are available, each accomplishing a specific lighting task. The diffused lightmodel, has an impact-resistant glass lens and provides powerful general illumination. The direct light model offers a shielded light source providing an efficient light distribution with full cut-off. It is designed for low mounting points where downward illumination is key, such as staircases. Because this version does not emit any uplight, it is dark sky friendly. Both models are IK10 rated.

Acceptance in the Progress Report is based on an impartial judging process by the Committee, which evaluates each submission on its uniqueness, innovation, and significance to the lighting industry. This year’s Report was presented during the IES virtual Annual Conference on August 31, 2021, and will be shared at local IES Section meetings throughout the coming year. In addition, a summary of the Report will be published in the November 2021 issue of LD+A magazine.
