Cree, Inc. expands its award-winning ZR Series LED troffer portfolio with the new ZR FD LED Series, a commercial spec-grade troffer that delivers superior energy efficiency of 130 lumens per watt. This performance increase provides customers with up to 60% energy savings over fluorescent troffers. Now, customers have a choice: ZR Series for colour-excellence of 90-plus CRI at industry-competitive 90 lumens per watt or the new ZR FD Series for industry-leading 130 lumens per watt efficacy at 80-plus CRI.

“Cree’s new ZR FD LED Series delivers a breakthrough in energy savings while improving visual comfort in a pleasing aesthetic that reduces hot spots and glare for a light experience that is simply better,” says David Elien, Cree senior vice president, lighting. “It provides unmatched performance with exceptional light quality and value that makes it easier than ever to switch to better LED technology.”

The new Cree ZR FD Series typically provides a payback of less than 2 years versus fluorescent and comes standard with best-in-class dimming to 5 percent, versus the 10 percent typical of fluorescent. The ZR FD Series features a new matte reflector finish for improved product aesthetics, reduced glare and uniform illumination. The ZR FD Series produces a better light experience for both new construction and renovation applications demanding extreme reliability and long product lifetime. Backed by an industry-leading 10-year warranty, this product offers exceptional longevity with a 75,000-hour lifetime at 35°C and features that are built for long life.

Its thin profile, lightweight design makes for easy installation in almost any plenum, reducing the need for layout re-design in retrofit applications. The product’s 3.9” height offers a quick and easy one-for-one replacement of inefficient fluorescent troffers in education, healthcare and commercial building applications.

The full family of ZR FD Series products is available in 2’x4’, 2’x2’ and 1’x4’ sizes and packages of 3300 and 4000 lumens at colour temps of 3500K or 4000K at 80-plus CRI. Additionally, future SmartCast Technology-enabled options are planned, which will amplify energy savings and provide a more personalized light experience without the added complexity of traditional controls. The Cree ZR FD Series is available now and sold through Cree Canada lighting sales channels throughout Canada.
