Standard Earns Best Managed Company Platinum Status Again

March 11, 2019

Standard has been recognized again for overall business performance and sustained growth with a prestigious “Canada’s Best Managed Companies” designation. The 2018 Best Managed program award winners are among the best-in-class of Canadian owned and managed companies with revenues over $15 million demonstrating strategy, capability and commitment to achieve sustainable growth.

“Standard is continually working on its people development, because we strongly believe that they are the key to our success; for several years now, we have invested in communication, in talent management and in service development,” says Standard CEO David Nathaniel. “We are especially proud to be part of the Best Managed Companies in Canada because it represents Standard’s effort to put its people first.”

Now in its 25th year, Canada’s Best Managed Companies is one of the country’s leading business awards programs recognizing Canadian-owned and managed companies for innovative, world-class business practices. Every year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates the calibre of their management abilities and practices.

“Best Managed winners should be extremely proud of their accomplishments,” says Lorrie King, Partner, Deloitte and Co-Leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “The marketplace is changing rapidly and this incredible class of companies’ commitment and entrepreneurial leadership help drive business success that is critical for the health of our economy.”

2018 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award will be honoured at the annual Canada’s Best Managed Companies gala in Toronto on April 11, 2018. On the same date, the Best Managed symposium will address leading-edge business issues that are key to the success of today’s business leaders. The Best Managed program is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business, TMX Group and MacKay CEO Forums.

About Canada’s Best Managed Companies

Canada’s Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $15 million. Every year since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices. Program sponsors are Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business, TMX Group and MacKay CEO Forums. For further information, visit www.bestmanagedcompanies.ca.

At least 17 privately-owned companies in Canada’s electrical industry continue to earn Canada’s Best Managed Companies awards. Presented by Deloitte, the program recognizes best-in-class Canadian, privately-owned and managed companies with annual revenues over $15 million.

This year’s companies attribute their success to an increased focus on investment in technology and talent, innovation, and cross-border business. Best Managed winners also make future planning a priority by actively identifying and preparing for new challenges on the horizon. According to a recent Deloitte study, Outlast and outperform, companies that make choices with a view toward long-term success have average revenues 47 per cent higher than those that do not.

“Every year the bar set by this elite roster of Best Managed companies is raised higher,” says Peter E. Brown, National Co-Leader of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program and Partner, Deloitte Private. “Now 26 years since the program’s inception, Best Managed companies are taking their successes global. Not only are winners securing Canada’s place on the world stage, they’re also proving to be more productive and sustainable across borders.”
