People of all ages and all backgrounds will gain an appreciation for the central role of light in science and culture, and as a cross-cutting scientific discipline that can advance sustainable development, say organizers.

Eaton’s Cooper Lighting Division has introduced its LumaWatt Outdoor Wireless Control and Monitoring System, which, the company says, minimizes power consumption and energy costs by providing lighting only where and when it’s needed. It’s specifically designed for area, roadway and parking garage/canopy applications.
Calgary is going with GE LED lighting for the first phase of a possible city-wide streetlight retrofit. The City of Calgary’s Department of Transportation is going with GE Lighting’s LED technology to replace and upgrade existing street light fixtures as part of a proposed city-wide retrofit that will see 80,000 street fixtures upgraded, dropping electricity consumption by 55 percent.
