March 20, 2020

Gothenburg-based LumenRadio AB announces the acquisition of Wireless Solution Sweden AB.

Both LumenRadio and Wireless Solution have contributed in transforming the lighting industry with their development of reliable wireless lighting control, prominently used in the Film & Broadcasting Lighting, Stage Lighting and Architectural Lighting industries. Both companies have great experience and expertise within wireless communication and engineering, and together they will be better equipped to meet the future requirements from their customers.

With this acquisition LumenRadio’s turnover within Professional Lighting will double and allow for further investment and expansion – their offer for reliable wireless mesh for IoT applications will also benefit from this and keep LumenRadio ahead of the competition. The additional R&D resources will allow for an expanded development portfolio, while maintaining a high pace of innovation.

Alexander Hellström, the CEO of LumenRadio confirms: “We see that the demand for reliable wireless connectivity is growing rapidly. We are pleased to communicate to the market that we are doubling down on our investments into research, innovation and product development both for Professional Lighting and our other focus areas such as HVAC & Building Automation and Industry. Alexander continues: We believe the connectivity market will experience consolidation during the coming years, and through this acquisition we place ourselves ahead of the curve and in a position of strength.”

LumenRadio’s CRMX technology for wireless DMX, incorporating their patents and innovations within the fields of RF coexistence, interference mitigation and wireless mesh technologies for IoT applications makes them today one of the most reliable and power-efficient solutions for wireless connectivity. Combined with Wireless Solution’s high performance W-DMX product range for wireless lighting control, their patents and broad knowledge of the DALI protocol and 5GHz applications, there is a great technological fit between the two companies.

Alexander Hellström is impressed by the technology and knowledge possessed by Wireless Solution and says: “We are really excited about this! Together we will define the wireless standard for the future. Professional Lighting is a high-stakes, no-nonsense business with extreme requirements requiring suppliers to deliver flawless technology, something that Wireless Solution successfully has done over the last two decades.”

The combined business will have a yearly turnover of more than 10 MEUR and more than 50 employees – with complementary products and solutions, addressing a much bigger, more geographically diverse and non-overlapping customer base. The two brands will be run separately, maintaining their own market identity – creating a firm belief that both customers and suppliers will benefit from the increased strength of this new entity.
