Legrand to Move Smart Lighting from Samsung Artik to the Legrand Cloud
June 21, 2019
A decision taken earlier this year by Legrand to transition its smart lighting from the Samsung Artik cloud to the Legrand cloud has been expedited by a Samsung decision to exit the cloud business.
For existing stock in the field, Legrand will discontinue the current smart lighting, Wi-Fi SKUs and replace them with new SKUs ending in CCV2 and which have the new firmware (see below).
Beginning in July, Legrand customer service staff will contact all distributors that have procured Legrand smart lighting dimmers and switches, and work with them to replace their existing stock with the new SKUs. Legrand expects to have stock at the start of July, at which time it will discontinue the old SKUs.
Teams are currently in the process of updating all supporting materials, as well as creating new Q&A documents.
For product currently in use
Legrand smart lighting, Wi-Fi began migrating to the Legrand cloud the week of June 24. An email notice is being sent to all existing Artik account users, informing them of the impending change.
The process will start with a firmware update on all connected smart lighting, Wi-Fi dimmers, switches, and plug-ins. Customers will not need to do anything.
During the week of July 1, a corresponding app update will be available for Legrand smart lights, Wi-Fi Android and iOS apps. Customers will see the prompt on their phone that an app update is available. Upon downloading it, customers will be asked to create a Legrand account.
All devices connected to the network from June 24 to August 9 will receive this update.
After August 10, devices that have not been updated to the new firmware (1.1.x) will stop working.
