Nyx Hemera Technologies to Install Its Lighting Technology in Arizona Tunnel
October 23, 2017
Nyx Hemera Technologies is installing its Tunnel Lighting Addressable Control System (TLACS) with Holophane luminaires in Arizona’s Queen-Creek tunnel. TLACS dynamically adjusts lighting levels based on ambient brightness and outdoor weather conditions. The system reduces energy consumption and maintenance, and improves visibility for drivers commuting in the tunnel.
This 400-metre tunnel, built in 1952, is located on road US 60 at milepost 226, east of the town of Superior.
The tunnel renovation is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade the state road network to improve security and efficiency. The US$3 million project involves removing existing interior lighting, installing an LED lighting system along with an intelligent control system, replacing exterior lighting at both ends of the tunnel, adapting the current electrical control building, and cleaning the tunnel walls and ceiling.
The Queen-Creek Tunnel is the first tunnel in Arizona to install this advanced, economic and innovative technology for lighting control. The system is already installed in tunnels in Singapore, Europe, Middel East, South America, USA and Canada with LED and HPS lighting systems.
