Standard Earns Best Managed Company Platinum Status Again

March 18, 2018

Standard has been recognized for overall business performance and sustained growth with Deloitte’s prestigious Canada’s Best Managed Companies designation. The 2018 Best Managed program award winners are among the best-in-class of Canadian owned and managed companies with revenues over $15 million demonstrating strategy, capability and commitment to achieve sustainable growth.

Each year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies undergo a rigorous application process, but only the best are awarded with a “Best Managed” designation. For a third consecutive year, Standard is a Platinum award winner. Companies with Platinum awards have maintained their Best Managed status for seven years or more.

Standard CEO David Nathaniel explains that Standard is continually working on its people development “because we strongly believe that they are the key to our success; for several years now, we have invested in communication, in talent management and in service development. We are especially proud to be part of the Best Managed Companies in Canada because it represents Standard ’s effort to put its people first.”

According to Deloitte, the 2018 winners are characterized by being clear on purpose and vision, building toward a foundation of delivery excellence, and committed to their workforce. Over the last 25 years, a combination of “play to win” attributes have contributed to the success, resilience and longevity of Best Managed winners. This year, more than 200 companies reached Platinum Club status, having maintained their Best Managed designation for seven years or more.

“This year’s winners combine bold and inclusive leadership with a keen ability to leverage a leading trend or competitive edge to meet the clients’ needs,” says Dino Medves, Senior Vice-President and Head, Commercial Banking at CIBC, a long-standing sponsor of the program. “Their success demonstrates what it takes to make a difference both inside and outside their companies.”

To commemorate 25 years of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, Deloitte will release in April a special report that examines the factors behind their long-term success.
