DLC QPLs: The Foolproof Way to Validate Listings
May 19, 2022
The DLC now provides improved DLC product listing logos with simplified and distinctive designs that make it even easier to identify products that meet the DLC technical requirements. The new product listing logos utilize specific brand colors and icons combined with clear lettering, making them easy to differentiate from one another – even at reduced sizes as seen on manufacturer spec sheets. These logos are trademarked and intended to be used ONLY with products currently listed on the DLC QPLs, and have specific guidelines that manufacturers must adhere to when using the logos to promote their products.
This is a good time to remind QPL users that while these logos can be the first step in identifying products that may qualify for energy efficiency rebates, the one true source to validate product listing is the actual Qualified Product Lists (QPLs) themselves. The QPLs for each technology (SSL and LUNA, networked lighting controls, and horticultural lighting) are publicly available by creating and logging into a MyDLC account, and can be searched, filtered, and saved when logged in.
Products go through a rigorous evaluation process that requires independent testing and documentation to validate that the performance meets the DLC technical requirements. Products are only considered listed if they have been evaluated by the DLC. The DLC does not have a “pending” status, so products under review are NOT considered listed. After a product successfully completes the application review process, the performance data is published on the QPLs, and each product has its own unique Product ID assigned. A single listing does not necessarily represent alternate configurations of listed products, and QPL users should carefully match model numbers and options to the actual listed product models.
So, look for the logos, but go to the QPLs to verify that the product is actually listed and to see the performance information of the product.
