Lighting for Tomorrow 2015 Awards Announced

Lighting For Tomorrow

Tech Lighting Element Merge Recessed Linear System. Category: LED Indoor Fixture

Results from this year’s Lighting for Tomorrow competition, which challenges manufacturers to develop residential lighting products that incorporate advances in design and energy efficiency, reflect key technology developments and market trends:

 • 80% of the fixture, lamp and retrofit kit entries included dimming features
• the first scalable lighting fixture, bi-pin replacement light engine, and three-way LED replacement lamp entries were seen this year.
• a greater number of products that considered the specific needs of seniors
• more products with connected features, and a number of high CRI product entries.
• a new category for vintage style, exposed-filament LED lamps represented an emerging opportunity to capture energy savings.
• some fixtures met the challenging Energy Star efficacy criteria for inseparable luminaires.

By recognizing exceptional new products, Lighting for Tomorrow seeks to meet consumer expectations and leap over market barriers that inhibit the adoption and use of energy efficient residential lighting products.

The 2015 judging panel reviewed a total of 120 products: 60 LED indoor fixtures, 4 LED outdoor fixtures, 2 OLED fixtures, 7 LED retrofit kits, 42 LED replacement lamps, and 5 lighting control devices.

The 2016 competition will begin taking entries in January. The focus of the 2015-2017 competitions is on LED and OLED fixtures, LED replacement lamps, LED retrofit kits, and lighting control devices.
