IES Toronto Event Updates Regarding COVID-19 Pandemic
June 8, 2020
During these unprecedented times, the IES Toronto Section recognizes the impact that COVID-19 is having not only across the world, but specifically within the lighting industry.
IES Toronto plans, initiatives and direction for this year have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, as have many businesses and associations within our industry. The safety of members and design community have been upmost in influencing the decisions made over last few months.
It is important that you are informed of the changes being made to Member and Emerging Professional events and educational sessions. The IES is following government guidelines regarding the ban on group gatherings. IES recognizes the challenges our economy is facing and have therefore decided to postpone the following programs until 2021:
- The IES Golf Tournament – Rescheduled for June 2nd, 2021
- The iNOVA Illumination Awards and Gala – Rescheduled for Fall 2021 – Where we will be recognizing and celebrating both the 2020 and 2021 Illumination Award Winners
IES Toronro is planning to start back in the Fall 2020 with the following local events, which are tentatively scheduled:
- The IES Technical Luncheons
- The Fundamentals of Lighting Education Course
- Lightwalks – Designed to highlight inspired lighting and design in locales around the GTA
- EP events and educational sessions
“Currently, we ask that you join the educational webinars offered by the IES Society where CEUs are available for many current and inspired topics. Please register,” says Joanne Emer, LC, IES Toronto President.
“We would like to thank you for your continued support and the support of our sponsors. The IES Section is very appreciative of our sponsors whose support helps us to promote the art and science of illumination through educational classes, technical programs, design awards, and social networking events.”
“It has been my great pleasure acting as your president over last two years. My tenure will finish at the end of this month. I am leaving you in the very capable hands of the incoming president, Eric Teacher. I would like to express my gratitude to you, our membership, for your continued support of the IES Toronto Section, of our mission to educate, motivate and create innovation within our industry. I would also like to recognize the IES Board Members, who are a group of volunteers that have been a joy to work with and a constant inspiration! I will continue on the IES Board as your Past-President. I invite you to come and be a part of a great group and a wonderful Society.”
