LightForm: Designs They Love – Balancing Orbs

Lately LightForm has noticed that many of their favourite new lighting designs share a common quality: their shape comprising of orbs or spherical objects balancing within, on, or around some curvi/linear structure. This blog will explore the popularity and appeal of these designs and provide 9 examples of this emerging trends like the IC Lights S Suspension by Flos. Glowing orbs have long been a popular and convenient shape for lighting designers, just look at some of the most beloved lighting designs in history: Flos’ Glo-Ball collection designed by Jasper Morrison, and Foscarini’s Gregg Collection designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba. Lately though, the sphere is being combined with another element: some linear or curvilinear structure that both serve as a juxtaposition to the sphere’s organic shape and to provide a framework within which the orbs can play.
